Girl Scout First Aiders

An adult who has taken GSUSA approved First Aid and CPR training and volunteers to provide safety services to a troop is a first aider. First aiders are required when troops participate in activities that need council approval.

The Safety-Wise chapter of Volunteer Essentials discusses first aiders and defines who qualifies as a Level 1, Level 2, and Wilderness first aider.

Safety Course Descriptions

  • For all First Aid and CPR courses, the number of participants is strictly limited. Spaces fill on a first come, first served basis. Courses may be cancelled if less than six people are registered. Registrations will not be processed until payment is received.
  • Be early! Participants who arrive late will not be certified.
  • Notify the training registrar as soon as possible if you are unable to attend. Someone may be waiting for your space.
  • All courses include skill sessions requiring working on the floor. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a cushion for kneeling as needed.
  • Participants are required to complete both written exams and skills test(s) in all courses to receive certification.
  • Courses scheduled to meet through a meal time, will not break. Bring a drink and food with you to the course.

Refresher may be completed once every four years. The full course is required every four years. Your Medic certification must not be expired to qualify for refresher.

Medic Safety Basics Blended Learning Classes

Blended learning combines the convenience of online learning with a shortened practical skills session to meet both knowledge and skill objectives for learners and provides flexibility and self-control for the learner.

Blended learning is an easy to use, self directed, active experience that appeals to many volunteers. Advanced registration is required to provide ample time to complete the online portion prior to the class. Students and instructors can automatically receive email notification regarding enrollment, follow-up, and completion associated with the training program. After registering, you will receive a link via email at least 10 days prior to the class with instructions on how to complete the online portion of the class.

Students must successfully complete both the online and skills portions of Blended Training. Completion of the online portion alone will not result in a certification. The online portion must be completed prior to attending class. Failure to do so will remove the student from class and they will have to register and pay again for another class.

Fee
$20.00.

Prerequisite
You must participate in the online training before attending.
