This course is for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors:

Discover a great new skill! An entry level of paddling skills will be presented and practiced during this fun weekend on the water. Girl Scouts will learn basic information on boat control, paddling apparel, potential hazards and simple rescues. They will gain confidence in how to safely and effectively maneuver on flat-water.

This Introduction to Canoeing course for our Girl Scouts is the first step towards advanced canoeing activities and courses on rivers and lakes. It is taught by ACA Certified Instructors.  Those that demonstrate a proficiency of skill and attention to safety can progress to Canoe Level 2.

Girl Scouts are welcome to take this course multiple times!

Prerequisite: Participants must be in good physical condition and be able to tread water and swim in water over their heads.

This session includes an overnight stay at one of our camp properties.

After the registration deadline, registrants will receive an email with more details, a permission slip, list of items to bring, etc.  This information will be sent to the email associated with your doubleknot account.

  • At least one female adult (with a current Volunteer Application and Background Check on file with the GS office) will be needed to help with meal preparation and overnight ratio for this activity. Please email customercare@gseok.org to volunteer.

This is an individual event. Individual events give Girl Scouts the opportunity to meet new friends and have exciting outdoor experiences they may not have the opportunity to do otherwise whether in their troop experience or as an Individually Registered Girl Scout.
