Prerequisite for this course: Girl Scouts must have successfully completed a Canoe Level 1: Introduction to Canoeing course and must be a 7th grader or older.
The Canoe Level 2 course adds to Girl Scout's knowledge and skills learned in Canoe Level 1 by introducing the maneuvers needed to paddle on moving water (rivers).
The course includes learning to catch large eddies, performing simple ferries, recognizing and avoiding hazards, performing rescues and responding to emergencies on moving water. Girl Scouts will be paddling down the river while they learn.
Transportation provided from Hardesty Leadership Center. This session includes primitive camping near the Illinois River.
Girl Scouts are welcome to take this course multiple times.
After the registration deadline, registrants will receive an email with more details, a permission slip, list of items to bring, etc. This information will be sent to the email associated with your doubleknot account. This is an individual event, not a troop activity.

Individual events give Girl Scouts the opportunity to meet new friends and have exciting outdoor experiences they may not have the opportunity to do otherwise whether in their troop experience or as an Individually Registered Girl Scout.
