Get ready to kick off Girl POWER with a high-speed look at the people, technology, and careers that make NASCAR possible!
Girl POWER (Providing Opportunities for Workforce Exploration & Readiness) is a Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma initiative designed to help girls in 6th-12th grade explore exciting careers, discover new possibilities for their futures, and see firsthand the many paths women are taking in STEAM fields and beyond.
For our first Girl POWER experience, we're partnering with the NASCAR Hall of Fame to go behind the scenes of the world of racing! NASCAR is about much more than what happens on the track. From engineers and designers to welders, digital editors, sound technicians, inspectors, logistics professionals, and research and development teams, it takes people with all kinds of skills and interests to make the sport happen.
During this interactive workshop, Girl Scouts will explore the wide variety of STEAM careers found throughout NASCAR, discover how science, technology, engineering, and math power the sport, and learn about women who are helping lead the way. Girls will also put their own creativity and problem-solving skills into action as they design cars and tracks of their own.
Whether you love racing, enjoy designing and building, are curious about technology, or have no idea what you want to do when you grow up, Girl POWER is your chance to explore what's possible and discover where your interests could take you!
Please Note: This is an in-person event at the Hardesty Leadership Center (HLC). The NASCAR Hall of Fame will lead the workshop virtually, while Girl Scouts gather together at HLC to participate in hands-on activities, interact with the presenters, and experience the program as a group.
