Troop Camper Training 1 (TCT1) is a combination of online videos, an in-person preparation session, and one overnight at a GSEOK camp property. It is designed for adults who work with any grade level and will prepare and qualify leaders and troop volunteers to take girls to GSEOK camp facilities or other appropriate sites. Outdoor skills taught in this course include successful planning of camping trips, care and use of tools and facilities, basic fire building and outdoor cooking, outdoor program activities, basic outdoor skills, and girl planning.
Participants must watch the gsLearn Troop Camper Training videos and complete a test prior to attending the preparation session. Participation in the overnight, preparatory session and watching the videos are required to successfully complete this course.
Prerequisites: GSEOK Beyond the Meeting training on gsLearn, located through your MYGS account, and a willingness to get dirty! Beyond the Meeting training may be waived for non-leader troop volunteers.

What to Bring to the preparation course: 1.5-inch three-ring binder, pen or pencil, paper for list-making, and a drink if you wish.
After registering for this course you may begin watching the Troop Camper Preparation videos on gsLearn, accessed via gseok.org. You will find paperwork to complete and take to the in-person prep course by clicking on "Additional Documents." All Troop Camper printed materials are available there for download and/or printing. Also, a list of additional items to take to the preparation course is accessible there.
A packing list for camp will be reviewed and developed with your group at the preparation session.
Note: Volunteers with extensive previous camping experience may submit Form #495F Application for Troop Camper Equivalency, requesting a waiver for Camper Training. Only one request may be submitted per person.
