Before campfire songs and friendship bracelets, before the first canoe paddle hits the water or the first s’more is made—there’s planning.
Earlier this May, volunteers from the Crosstimbers Service Unit gathered at Camp Wah-Shah-She to do just that: get everything ready for their upcoming June day camp. They spent the weekend outdoors, walking the grounds, testing supplies, reviewing plans, and prepping activities to make sure camp runs smoothly when Girl Scouts arrive later this summer.
From STEM experiments to crafts and classic camp games, everything was reviewed, refined, and packed with purpose. This wasn’t just a checklist—it was a chance to make sure every girl who shows up in June has the space to explore, connect, and grow.
Day camp is often a first step for younger Girl Scouts—a chance to build confidence in the outdoors, try something new, and meet girls from across their community. It’s also where older Girl Scouts take on leadership roles, serve as mentors, and begin building the skills they’ll carry forward for life.
