Driven by a deep appreciation for the significance of the Girl Scouts ceremonial flag ceremony and a commitment to ensuring its proper execution, Megan embarked on a mission to empower troops within the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma council. Recognizing the transformative potential of this timeless tradition, she undertook the creation of flag ceremony kits designed to equip troops with the tools and knowledge necessary to conduct meaningful ceremonies with confidence and precision.
Through collaborative efforts with service unit leaders and troops, Megan studiously crafted and distributed these kits, accompanied by engaging presentations elucidating the history and symbolism behind flag ceremonies. With her guidance, troops embarked on a journey of learning and growth, gaining proficiency in conducting mock ceremonies while fostering a deeper understanding of the ceremonial significance.
Witnessing the palpable growth in confidence and abilities among troop members, Megan’s initiative left an indelible mark on the Girl Scout community, empowering troops to carry forth the legacy of the flag ceremony and share their newfound knowledge with others.
Megan was a Girl Scout for 12 years in Troop 173. She graduated in 2023 and continued her education pursuing a medical degree to become a Physician Assistant.
