The Green² initiative lets GSEOK reward troops who are environmentally conscious with the Green² patch, badge planning resources, and prizes! Troops will complete badge work while producing minimal waste and adopting an eco-friendly approach to any actvity. They will also complete a 'Green' community service project. Each level has several Green² activities to choose from below.
Important Forms:
Troop leaders should ask their girls if they would like to participate by "going Green." Troop leaders can use the 'green' badge plans provided by GSEOK below, or use their own 'green' approach to badge work.
There will be 2 forms to complete.
First, after you complete 3 Green² badges, complete the "Green² Patch Request" form that you can find at the top of the page. Once you complete the form, it is sent to green2troops@gseok.org and received by Girl Experience staff.
The form will be reviewed by our team, and if your activites meet the Green² standards, we will send the patch (pictured above) to the troop leader for every currently registered girl listed in the troop.
As the end of the Girl Scout membership year approaches, complete the "Green² Troop - End of Year" form also found on this page. This form will require explanations on how the badges were completed, what materials were used and purchased, and if any, how much waste was/was not produced.
For example: "Troop 12345 completed the 'Brownies Making Games' badge by doing these 5 activities (you will list the 5.) We did not purchase any items to earn this badge. We used recycled paper, cardboard, rocks, twigs, old buttons, old game pieces, and other small trinkets the girls found at home to act as our game pieces. See picture attached. We produced some waste while cutting up paper and cardboard."
End of Year forms will be due by July 1st, 2026.
Yes! The 3 troops who produced the least waste will receive a free camping weekend at Camp Wah Shah She. GSEOK will also provide dinner on either Friday or Saturday night for all attendees.
During the Girl Scout year, we will be offering small prizes to troops that do awesome activities like a great environmental troop for their school or community, a super creative 'Green' way to earn a badge, a new and exciting approach to being 'Green,' etc. We will need to hear about these projects from you. Email us at green2troops@gseok.org with details of the project and pictures. With your permission, we may also post these on social media.
Yes, there will be some with regards to when you can utilize the camp. There are certain times of year the property is booked, weather may be a consideration, etc. We will work with you and your troop to find an acceptable date.
All adult to girl ratios must be followed and only approved, background checked adults can attend.
The Girl Experience team manages this new initiative. Use the green2troops@gseok.org email address to contact the team.
No. We hope this initiative will be successful so we can continue indefinitely. Being 'Green' and environmentally conscious should never end!
